Protein can be derived from added sugar or soy products. Some people prefer to have milk as their primary source of protein. If you don’t like the taste of milk, there are substitutes such as soy milk, almond milk, rice milk or rice syrup. Peas, lentils, black beans, and pinto beans are excellent sources of protein.
